Globe fires up cell site in Pualas, Lanao del Sur as it builds more infra in countryside to spur economic dev’t

Leading digital solutions platform Globe continues to lay down the necessary infrastructure to spur economic development in the countryside, firing up a cell site in Pualas town, Lanao del Sur.

Globe partnered with Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (LASURECO) and the Lanao del Sur local government, headed by Pualas Mayor Amanoden “Tenney” Ducol, to build a tower for the connectivity needs of the municipality and nearby areas.

The telecom coverage helps local communities in the area sustain their livelihood through online selling, particularly of local garments. It also benefits students who rely on internet connectivity for their learning needs.

Globe has also been providing livelihood opportunities to the 5th class municipality of over 14,000. Headed by Globe Territory Sales Head Neil Natividad and Distribution Partner Elmer Tanyap, the Globe team has been conducting orientation for Pualas residents on SIM activations and how to become Globe retailers through prepaid loading, which can serve as a source of income.

At a recent event that marked the rise of the new Globe cell site, residents participated in a TM Roleta Promo, where they were able to engage, play and win Amax prepaid load.

“Globe has made it its mission to bring value to every Filipino through network connectivity and access to a first-world internet experience. This is why we’re doubling our efforts to reach even remote communities,” said Rye Galan, Globe Site Lifecycle Management Services Regional Acquisitions Head for Mindanao.

“We believe that by taking care of the communication needs of the people, we are empowering them to complete day-to-day transactions through digital services that could enrich their lives,” said James Lopez, Lead for Globe External Affairs in Mindanao.

Globe has been ramping up network builds, spending a record P92.8 billion in CAPEX in 2021 and sustaining this with P89 billion in 2022. It aims to build 1,700 new cell sites this year, higher than last year’s 1,407.

This is part of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.

In the first half of the year, Globe has installed 572 new cell towers and upgraded 6,800 mobile sites to 4G LTE. It also continues to deploy 5G wireless technology nationwide, completing 933 cell sites in the first semester. 5G is the latest wireless technology that offers high-speed and more stable connectivity.
