GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA)–Two hundred youth from Barangay Agay-ayan celebrated this year’s Linggo Ng Kabataan through its “Love Yourself,” a one-day Empowerment and Awareness Program in collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Council of Barangay Agay-ayan, the Philippine National Police (PNP), Commission on Population Development (POPCOM) and City Health Office (CHO), September 13.
With the theme, “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages,” the Love Yourself Empowerment and Awareness program aims to underscore the contributions of the youth and bridge the generational gap in Barangay Agay-ayan’s community.
For their part, the PNP of Gingoog conducted a lecture on the adverse effects of illegal drugs and ways to counter criminality in their respective communities, while POPCOM held a talk on sex education, consent, and responsible and safe sexual conduct.
Gingoog City’s CHO also held an HIV awareness lecture, which included accessible free discreet HIV testing for youth who were sexually active.
Barangay Agay-ayan SK Council President Kevin Genel Saluper said the activity is one of the many programs Gingoog City is supporting to capacitate its youth towards a safe and responsible environment. (VPSB/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
