Highly controversial president Benigno Aquino III, or widely known in the countrysides as “Noynoy Aquino,” dies this morning at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City.
The media community did not see yet the medical bulletin of the former president to know how he died. But it was earlier reported the president was suffering from illness. At presstime the information is still sketchy.
A senator, who requested anonymity announced the passing of the president but he said he was not in the proper position to announced the passing of the president.
Aquino has served the country as the 15th president, from 2010 until 2016. He was the only son of then President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
The late Benigno Aquino III was the chairman of Liberal Party. He led the political group from 2010 until 2016.
Last Thursday, the former president was rushed to the hospital for still undisclosed reason. His immediate family also did not post updates on social media regarding the medical status of the former president.
Although he was known as a heavy smoker but the former president disappeared from the public eye after his term expired in 2016.
President Benigno Aquino became controversial during the height of the massacre of 44 scount rangers in the hands of the muslim rebels in Southern Philippines.
