MANILA, Philippines – A former security officer of the Bureau of Corrections has denied any involvement in the killing of hard-hitting radio broadcaster Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa.
In his counter affidavit, former Bucor security officer Ricardo Zulueta said he has no involvement in the murder of the broadcaster. This, as he also denied receiving orders from suspended Bucor chief Gerald Bantag of the murder.
Zulueta also added that even in the killing of alleged middleman Jun Villamor, he has no knowledge about it.
Zulueta said in his statement: “DG (Director-General) Bantag never ordered me to commit or facilitate the commission of a crime on his behalf.”
The security officer and General Bantag were both tagged as the alleged masterminds in the murder of the veteran radio broadcaster.
It can be recalled that on October 3, 2022, while Percy Lapid was going to his office onboard his self-driven vehicle, an assassin on board a motorcycle alighted near the driver seat, and without provocation, peppered him with bullets, which caused his untimely demise.
