CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – Major General Alex S. Rillera, Commander of the 6ID and JTF-Central is now appealing to the communist terrorist groups that encountered the troops of the 57th Infantry (Masikap) Battalion and operating troops under of the Joint Task Force Central to return to the government.
Made by Maj. Gen. Rillera made the statement after it was confirmed that there were many wounded among the estimated 13 communist terrorists who had an encounter with the military in Barangay Batang Bagras, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, yesterday.
He said, the communist terrorists have nowhere to go because the government forces continue to pursue them.
“We will give them a chance to be treated because many of them are seriously injured, this is if they return to our government properly. In addition to this, we will also give them the opportunity to be reunited with their families, relatives and friends”, said Maj. Gen. Rillera.
The 6ID Commander further assures that with the help of the citizens and local government leaders, the communist terrorists will not be able to escape because the valiant government forces continue to pursue them.
It can be recalled that the 57IB army confiscated the two M16 rifles of the Communist Terrorist Group that they left behind in addition to the NPA flag and their war materials during the encounter in the aforementioned area. The communist terrorists fled after they could not handle the forces of the government army.
According to Lt. Col. Guillermo Mabute Jr., Battalion Commander of the 57IB that most of their supplies were left behind when the fighting broke out. “At least five were seriously injured. Woe to the women who are with them who now also continue to run and avoid our forces.”
“Our troops also intercepted their tents that were still lying in the area of the encounter on the side of the river, bags with their identifications and their propaganda materials”, said Lt. Col. Good.
