Corrigendum on Online Publication re: First Capacity Building for Small-Scale Miners in 2023

Continually keeping the mining stakeholders informed and educated with mining policies and procedures to uphold responsible mining, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB X) conducted its first capacity building seminar for small-scale miners in Malitbog, Bukidnon at the covered court of Barangay Kiabo on 27 January 2023, attended by at least three hundred fifty (350) attentive participants.

The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of Bukidnon, through PMRB Resolution No. 16, Series of 2022, declared a 52.8455 hectare-area at Sitio Kagahuman, Barangay San Luis, Municipality of Malitbog as People’s Small-Scale Mining Area (PSSMA)/Minahang Bayan (MB) on October 06, 2022. The registration as a small-scale miner is part of the application requirements to engage in the extraction of minerals under the terms and conditions of a Small-Scale Mining Contract (SSMC) – a contract awarded by the PMRB to Small-Scale Miner(s) who have completed the requirements of the SSMC Application for the small-scale utilization of minerals inside the PSSMA/MB.

Engineer III, Maria Raniela P. Orteza discussed the registration of Small-Scale Miners, Small-Scale Mining Contract Application and Issuance Procedures, and the Two-Year Work Program; Small-Scale Mine Safety and Rules and Regulations was discussed by Safety and Health Chief, Engr. Alvin M. Villanueva; Potential Environmental Impact and Management Plan (PEIMP) was explained by Engineer II, Daryl D. Faciol; and the Community Development and Management Program (CDMP) was presented by Community Affairs Officer II, Ai-Let R. Castro.

The successful event was received with a lot of appreciation and commitment from the participants towards the end of the program. MGB X commits to continually guide and inform mining stakeholders in upholding responsible mining.
