Camp Siongco, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao – A fire incident was quickly responded and extinguished by personnel of 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and firefighters from Cotabato City and Datu Odin Sinsuat that transpired at the building of 6th Post Engineer Detachment (6PED) late afternoon of Thursday, July 28, 2022.
According to a witness, the fire broke out at the ceiling of the personnel barracks just when the electricity resume after about 30 minutes of power interruption.
The conflagration spread quickly in other areas of the PED building. The immediate arrival and response by 6ID followed by DOS, BARMM and Cotabato City firefighters has prevented the spread of the fire to the other nearby building, and facilities.
Fire was contained at around 5pm and firefighters declared Fire Out at around 5:45pm.
Inventory of items destroyed by the fire incident is still ongoing which includes office equipment and some personal belongings.
“Makikipagtulungan ang ating command sa Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Fire Station sa gagawing imbestigasyon nito”, Maj. Gen. Capulong said in vernacular.
“Bagama’t nalungkot tayo sa pagkasunog ng isang opisina sa loob nang ating kampo, nagpapasalamat parin tayo sa poong may kapal dahil walang personnel ang nasaktan dahil sa maagap at mabilis na responde ng ating mga bombero”, Maj. Gen. Capulong added.
