CAGAYAN DE ORO (MDN digital, May 8, 6:00 AM) – At least 24 houses were totally burned when a fire of still unknown origin hit Lagonglong town in Misamis Oriental Tuesday evening.
Firefighters immediately went to the fire scene to help stop the conflagration but those houses made of light materials were easily gutted down.
There is no reported fatality yet as of this writing and authorities are still accounting the total damage to properties. Fire investigators have also conducted investigations what caused the fire that easily spread in neighboring houses.
Initial investigation disclosed that the fire allegedly started at a small store selling slippers, clothing, plastics and other light materials. But the Bureau of Fire Protection said they are still investigating the cause of fire and could not yet confirm the total damage to properties.
The blaze in the poblacion proper, authorities said, was the biggest in the history of Lagonglong and affected families are now assisted and accounted for by the local office of social welfare and development.
