Family of four killed in Cagayan de Oro fires

CAGAYAN de Oro–officials on Saturday discovered that a family of four was charred to death in a fire that razed their residential house Wednesday in a downtown village (barangay) here.

Village Chief Eldo G. Casiño, of Barangay 22 here, identified the victims as Ador Angayag his wife Juliet and their grown- up-son and daughter whose names were not immediately known.

Casiño said that the victims were only discovered Saturday when neighbors reported of billowing smoke in the burned residential house accompanied with putrid smell.

He said that he last saw Ador Angayag who went to the barangay hall asking for assistance while their residential house caught fire Wednesday night.

“I thought Ador Angayag would come back, but that was the last time I saw him and never thought that he and his family members were charred to death,” Casiño said.

According to Casiño, that after the fire incident, nobody reported to the barangay or the police about missing persons.

He said that fire investigators and the police are conducting a probe on the incidents while wondering about the failure of even a single member of the family to escape the raging fire.

The Angayags were middle-income family with Ador working as a seaman, the wife Juliet as an administrative officer of the Maritime Insurance Company and their kids studying in a known university in the city.
