EXPLOSION IN JOLO KILLS 4 SOLDIERS
JOLO, Sulu (MDN Digital News) – A big explosion in Jolo, Sulu province, killed four soldiers and wounded 17 others this afternoon, a top military official reported.
Major General Corleto Vinluan, Jr, Western Mindanao Command chief said an improvised explosive device (IED) reportedly planted in motorbike has exploded, instantly killing four soldiers and also wounded 17 others. An explosion, the military said, followed an hour later.
The Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) said they are still conducting a thorough investigations to determine the actual number of victims after the twin explosions.
Initial investigation disclosed the first explosion actually happened at around 11:53 in the morning in Barangay Walled City inside the Paradise Food Shop just beside Syntax Computer Shop.
Responding operatives of the Jolo Municipal Police Station immediately cordoned the blast site while investigation is ongoing. The police investigators also conducted probe on the second blast site to gather pieces of evidence. The second explosion, the police said, happened 1:00 in the afternoon fronting Development Bank of the Philippines in the same barangay where the first explosion also took place.
Meanwhile, PNP Chief Archie Gamboa has already directed the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Automomous Region (BAR) to expedite the investigations and arrest whoever are the perpetrators of the twin explosion in this time of the pandemic.
As of this writing military and police operatives in Jolo town has already conducted massive tracking of the suspects’ identities to arrest them and put them behind bars.
