MARAWI CITY, – With the ongoing distribution of cash assistance by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Livelihood Settlement Grant (LSG) and Transitory Family Support Package (TFSP), the agency has vowed to cater to internally displaced persons (IDPs) who failed to receive cash assistance during payouts for some valid reasons.
DSWD-10 Regional Director Mariflor Libang said the agency would give reasonable extensions for those IDPs who were not able to get their cash assistance during the scheduled distribution in their barangays.
"For those who weren't able to come to their schedule, definitely we are catering to them the next day. But in instances that they went somewhere, we are giving them extensions, and we will tap the local government unit to inform them about that incremental period of our services," Dir. Libang explained.
"We assure that the IDPs will be getting the services they deserve," she added.
DSWD's cash assistance payout for the 24 barangays of the most affected area (MAA) started on April 6 and will last until May 29 this year.
Director Libang said the agency aims to complete the cash distribution to all 24 barangays as soon as possible. Nonetheless, she added, "we have to consider the holidays, Saturdays, Sundays, and the Mondays for our evaluation, assessment and of course our preparation for the next payout."
The DSWD would maximize the use of tri-media to inform the IDPs on the schedule of cash assistance distribution for LSG and TFSP for Marawi residents.
