ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–With the construction of two comfort rooms and handwashing facilities in Dulag Elementary School (ES) here, school principal Frexie Maruhom extended gratitude to Rotary Club of Iligan Maria Cristina (RCIMC) and 55th Engineering Brigade (EBde) of the Philippine Army.
“Salamat kaayo sa Rotary, sa 554th Engineer Battalion sa 55th Ebde ug sa ubang stakeholders. Magpasalamat mi ug walay katapusan. Unta kaning oportunidad magpadayon,” Maruhom said.

Maruhom shared that they have been using the old comfort room ever since he was still a Grade 1 pupil in the same school. According to him, the new comfort room will serve as a model in the community that males and females should have separate rooms.
The school principal also said that the new comfort room symbolizes good quality education for the pupils.
“Kani pwede naman matawag na quality education kay naa naman tay facilities,” he said.
[This can now be called quality education because we have facilities.]
Maruhom was also thankful that RCIMC asked them to provide their own design for the project. He said they used rainwater collectors to have water for handwashing. He explained that since the location of the school is elevated, the source of water has been a challenge. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
