DTI empowers people with disabilities in Marinduque through consumer advocacy and entrepreneurial mind setting

In celebration of the 44th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week with the theme “Pamahalaan kabalikat sa pagtupad ng pantay na edukasyon, trabaho, at kabuhayan tugon sa pagpapalakas ng taong may kapansanan,” the local government unit (LGU) of Mogpog in the province of Marinduque tapped the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Marinduque Provincial Office to capacitate the Mogpog Federation of Person with Disability Association (MFPWDA).

A total of 30 people with disabilities (PWDs) participated in the activity that focused on the Joint DTI-DA-DOE Administrative Order No. 17-01 s.2017 entitled “Granting of Discounts to Persons with Disabilities on the Purchase of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities Pursuant to R.A. No.9442, otherwise known as the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons” and Joint Memorandum (JMC) No.1 s.2022 entitled “Guidelines on the Provision of the Mandatory Statutory Benefits and Privileges of the Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities on their Purchase through online (E-Commerce) and Phone Calls/SMS”.

To equip them further, the members of the association benefitted from an entrepreneurial mind-setting session organized by the Provincial Office. The participants will receive a Negosyo Cart from LGU Mogpog.
