DSWD distributes P78.4-B to 13.1 million family-beneficiaries

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, Aug. 21 (PIA)–The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already distributed P78.4 billion to 13.1 million family-beneficiaries for the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program emergency cash subsidy.

As of August 20, about 1.4 million Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, 5.7 million non-4Ps families, 3.1 million waitlisted beneficiaries were already covered by the department.

“Moreover, 128,074 transport network vehicle service (TNVS) and public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers were also given assistance,” DSWD Usec. Rene Glen Paje said during the Network Briefing with Presidential Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, August 21.

Paje added that they are waiting for almost 300,000 names of beneficiaries to be uploaded by various local government units (LGUs) and they have returned almost 200,000 names for validation because they had incomplete information like cell phone numbers, middle names, among others.

Paje said these are among the reasons why there are delays in the distribution. “Another cause of the delay is COVID. Many of our personnel have been infected so we are very careful now.”

He added that DSWD has other programs for those who did not qualify for SAP. ” We have the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situations where we can give medical orcash assistance or others.” ( SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
