Meet one of the active Rotarians in District 3870. She is Dr. Rose Belle Rahon Sugcang, the incoming Rotary district chair for Disease Prevention and Treatment.
Dr. Sugcang is a surgeon by profession. Her field of specialization is General Surgery & Surgical Oncology. As a Rotary member of the Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro, Sugcang is active and energetic. She attends various civic services of her club.
Rotary helps fight diseases and how to prevent them
DISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT is one of the 7 Areas of Focus of Rotary International. RI believes that diseases result in misery, pain, and poverty for millions of people around the world. RI also believes that treatment prevention of these diseases is very vital to the international organization.
Rotary leads efforts both big and small. It sets up temporary clinics, blood donation centers, and training facilities in underserved communities struggling with outbreaks and health care access. Rotary designs and builds the infrastructure that allows doctors, patients, and governments to work together.
Rotarians worldwide combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimers, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. Prevention is necessary. For this reason, Rotary International also focuses on health education and bringing people’s hearing, vision, and dental care.
The incoming Rotary District 3870 Governor Gilda “Gigi” Go thanked Dr. Rose Belle for accepting the appointment.
