DPWH12 turns over 4-storey school building to MBHTE

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 12 headed by its Regional Director Bashir M. Ibrahim turned over Tuesday, April 4, six (6) units of four-storey school buildings of Senior High School-Stand Alone to the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE).

In his acceptance message, MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said he was “privileged to accept the six school buildings to benefit the students, faculty, and personnel” of the said school.

Located at Bubong Road, Tamontaka Mother, the school is the first-ever stand-alone school for Senior High School learners in Cotabato City which consists of 120 classrooms.

“I am confident that the Cotabato City Division Office and the Senior High School Stand Alone will manage these buildings so that more learners can benefit from them,” Iqbal added.

Tourism Consultant Bai Sandra A. Sema, Councilor Florante Formento representing City Mayor Bruce Matabalao, Mr. Arlan Arumpac representing City Administrator Atty. Aelan Arumpac, CCDEO Engr. Bai Lugaya A. Ampatuan, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Concepcion F. Balawag, CESO V, Senior High School Stand Alone School Head Jeanette A. Gaudiado, and other guests from DPWH12, LGU, and MBHTE.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), through its Property and Supply Section (PASS), began Thursday, March 30, the series of distribution of office supplies and equipment for the Islamic Studies and Arabic Language (ISAL) teachers-asaatidz in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

According to Director General for Madaris Education Prof. Tahir Nalg, this is the first time in Bangsamoro History that ISAL (formerly ALIVE) teachers have been provided with such supplies.

The first leg of distribution took place at Cotabato City Schools Division Office (SDO) where 260 ISAL teachers each received the following: a) clerical table and chair with 4-drawer steel cabinet, b) water dispenser, c) trash bin, and d) reference materials.

Minister Mohagher Iqbal said that initiatives like this is worth sharing and publicizing especially when it benefits the Bangsamoro community.

The distribution will be until April 4, including weekends.

Cotabato City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Concepcion F. Balawag extended her gratitude to the MBHTE for the provision of these supplies.

“We will sustain the efforts of the [Bangsamoro] Government to attain the lasting peace in Mindanao,” Balawag added.

The MBHTE PASS is expected to continue the distribution to other schools divisions and all other ISAL teachers-asaatidz are expected to receive the same.
