CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) endorsed the construction of the Butuan-Cagayan de Oro Railway System, Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of Cagayan de Oro City said Tuesday.
Rodriguez said that the DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista also wrote to the Public-Private Partnership Center to finance the P100 million Project Preparation Feasibility Study for the first phase Cagayan de Oro Metropolitan Railway.
He said that the CdeO Skyway/Light Rail System will traverse from Barangay Bugo to Bulua passing thru the Butuan-Cagayan-Iligan Road.
The Road (CdeO’s present highway) is the 1st Phase of the railway starting from Paseo del Rio Rotunda in Nazareth to Macabalan Pier passing thru Apolinar Velez st., J. Pacana st., and Puntod as the 2nd Phase, Rodriguez said.
According to Rodriguez, the proposed state-of-the-art Skyway/Light Rail System in CdeO is envisioned to be safer, cleaner, comfortable, fast, and affordable method of mass transportation.
The CdeO lawmaker likewise received the support of the DOTr officials for the realization of the Mindanao Railway Project for Northern Mindanao from Jasaan, Misamis Oriental to CdeO, to Laguindingan Airport, Iligan City, and Linamon, Lanao del Norte. -0-
