CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To witness the grandeur of stars and planets in a compact stage, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-10, in collaboration with Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), will exhibit the first mobile planetarium in Cagayan de Oro City to the public during the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) sa Amihanang Mindanao at the Atrium Limketkai Center on October 26-30, 2022.
The mobile planetarium is open to all for free, for ages 2 years and above. Interested visitors are encouraged to pre-register via https://bit.ly/3TdloRj until October 24. Walk-in visitors may also secure a ticket at the planetarium’s official ticketing booth inside the Atrium on October 26-27. All tickets are free to the public.
The PAGASA mobile planetarium includes stargazing sessions, image projection, and formal lectures. A planetarium’s interior is projected with the use of sophisticated audio and video technology inside the dome, providing a 360-degree educational experience. The inflatable mobile planetarium is a replica of the fixed planetarium in PAGASA Science Garden.
Expert lecturers from the PAGASA-DOST central office will handle the planetarium projections and presentations. The maximum number of participants per session will be twenty-five (25) in order to maintain social distance while adhering to minimum health norms. The public is welcome to visit the Mobile Planetarium, and admission is free.
