ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Lanao del Norte Field Office deployed 105 interns in various agencies for the Government Internship Program (GIP), February 8.

The interns were deployed to offices, namely the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), located in Iligan City and in the municipalities of Pantao Ragat, Pantar, Linamon, Kauswagan, Tagoloan, and Matungao.

Charlene Collantes, an intern deployed at PIA Lanao del Norte, is thankful for the opportunity. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a major in Filipino.

“As one of the GIP interns, I am thankful for the opportunity. This will be my stepping stone to land on my dream job,” said Collantes.

Prior to the deployment of interns, DOLE also spearheaded learning sessions to orient the interns on how they will perform their duties and responsibilities upon their deployment to their respective agencies. Topics include the Safe Spaces Act, work ethics, the Data Privacy Act, and financial literacy.

Lawyer Safrali Cabili, DOLE Lanao del Norte provincial director, also told the interns to be dedicated to their work.

DOLE-GIP is a yearly program that gives opportunities to qualified youth ages 18–30, both non-graduates and graduates of college, to have work experience in various government agencies for three to six months. Interns will also have the opportunity to acquire regular employment. Through the program, the interns can also share and enhance their skills that they can apply to their future working agency.
