SAGAY, Camiguin, Aug. 20 (PIA)–In bringing the government and good governance right to the doorstep of the people, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Camiguin led the launching of Barangay Cuña of Sagay, here as Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) pilot-convergence area, August 13.
Provincial Director Rhona Pedraza-Abadilla said RCSP is a convergence mechanism for LGUs particularly in the barangay for the identification of issues and needed government interventions. With this, Abadilla emphasized the need to bridge the gap of the government and the community.
“We commend the efforts of our partner agencies for being with us in this undertaking and we are positive that the community of Barangay Cuña will help us in exemplifying the outcome of having a government that is for the people and with the people,” DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe said.
Aside from orienting the community on the RCSP, a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) was also facilitated by DILG Camiguin Program Manager Jay Niel C. Anasco. Representatives from Barangay Cuña and the basic sectors participated in discussing issues and concerns in areas of infrastructure, social services, economic, environment and governance.
Representatives from the provincial government and national agencies pledged their commitments, however, the barangay still needs to follow it up by submitting a resolution or request.
Barangay Cuña is now ready for the next phases of the RCSP Framework, with the set of upcoming activities, Abadilla added. (DILG Camiguin/PIA10)
