CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Philippine National Police-Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 led by Sec. Benjamin Abalos Jr. held the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of the Standard Police Station Building Type “B/C” at the old post office, here, August 3.
The new police station will cover Poblacion Barangays 1 to 40 as part of the city’s aim to bolster the peace and security status of its economic district while also serving to boost the morale of the Cagayan de Oro City Police force.
“Ito ay importanteng bahagi ng kabuuang programa natin sa peace and order. Kung walang kasiguruhan at seguridad sa buhay, ari-arian, at sa hanapbuhay. Mahirap makamtan ang layunin natin na said.
(The function of this precinct is very important because it covers Poblacion Barangays 1 to 40. This is an important part of our total peace and order program. Without assurance and security in life, property, and employment, it will be difficult to achieve our goal of recovering from the tragedy wrought about by the pandemic and global economic crisis)
In addition to Poblacion’s new police station, Uy also disclosed that A. Brown, a private company in Cagayan de Oro City, donated a 700-square meter lot at the uptown area wherein the city will establish an additional police station alongside a Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) station.
“Balewala ang economic activity o mamamatay ang economic activity if there are so many crimes. Under the BBM government, there is so much synergy. The police cannot do it on its own. We need the help of the citizenry, that is the only way to defeat criminality,” Abalos Jr. said.
