DepEd employee nabbed in Oro drug raid

CAGAYAN de Oro City–Police nabbed a government worker along with two other suspects in a raid on a suspected drug den in the coastal village of Macabalan here Wednesday, police reported Thursday.

Police arrested Gerardo Bactong, 24, of Macabalan, an employee of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Region 10, along with two other suspects identified as Richard Toyogon, 31 and Jonathan Bento, during the alleged raid on Toyogon’s residence.

Police investigator Nolasco Gaabucayan said that Toyogon was the object of the police raid. Bactong and Bento were in the house along with alleged drug paraphernalia during the raid.

Gaabucayan said that Bactong is not in the drug list, but the police file charges against him along with the two others with violation of the comprehensive anti-drug law.

Bactong denied that he is involved in illegal drugs and that he was in Toyogon’s house for a lunch break Wednesday.
