The most awaited festival in Mindanao will be held at Pelaez Sports Center with a Showdown of Festival Queens on the eve of the Festival September 23, 2016 at SM City- Cagayan de Oro-the City Golden Friendship.
Event Organizer Business Week Mindanao and Mindanao Daily News, in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region X and the Regional Development Council (RDC 10) will hold the 1st ever AMIHANG MINDANAO “LUMAD FESTIVAL HIMAMAT 2016” dubbed as A FESTIVAL OF FESTIVAL FOR PEACE AND CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING. The festival is also in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd 10), the Philippine National Police (PNP 10), the Northern Mindanao Tourism Regional Tourism Council (NMRTC), the Province of Misamis Oriental, the Local Goverment Unit of Cagayan de Oro City and SM City.
LUMAD FESTIVAL HIMAMAT 2016 is an advocacy for peace and cultural understanding and uniting the people of the Region showcasing open interpretation of the different categories of the Cultural Festival in Northern Mindanao. This cultural festival is considered by far, the biggest, the grandest and the most awaited Festival in Mindanao to showcase open dance interpretation of dances which enriches the cultural heritage of the Region.
The LUMAD Festival aims to continually preserve and integrate traditional culture of the tribes in Northern Mindanao like the Subanens, the Maranaos, the Higa-onons, Talaandig, Matigsalogs Manobo Tribe, the Pulangihon Manobo Tribe and other tribes and all the people of Northern Mindanao since we came from different places as LUMADS (genuine) from where we came from. Be it from Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao having our own cultural and traditionsd whose rich culture is being preserved through cultural dances. The 1st AMIHANG MINDANAO LUMAD FESTIVAL HIMAMAT 2016 then will help create expressions of a dynamic part of national cultural mainstream in the preservation of their arts and culture through grandiose festivals.
The Event Organizer expects an estimated of 100,000 to 150,000 foreign, domestic and local tourists and visitors to witness, see and watch on TV the grandiose festival. The international, national and local Tri-Media are invited to cover the festival. The national and local photographers with known painter-artists to capture the event in photos and on the spot paintings to be displayed at the event organizer cultural festival museum.
The Honorable Mayor Gregorio Lloren Gue and First Lady Carmen Capistrano Gue of the first class municipality of Quezon of the Province of Bukidnon accepted and confirmed the invitation to participate in the Festival from Joe P. Palabao-Festival Director of Business Week Mindanao and Mindanao Daily News.
Expected contingents are from forty (40) to fifty (50) contingents coming from from the five (5) provinces, nine (9) cities and eighty four (84) municipalities, comprising 2,022 barangays, public and private schools, universities and colleges, corporations, companies, NGOS and institutions are invited to participate in this Festival from Northern Mindanao.
Added attraction is at the Grand Finale wherein 25,000 to 30,000 students, participants, performers and tourists will dance to the tune of ITS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES. This is to set a record breaking performance for the GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORD Northern Mindanao will show to the world for the biggest cultural event in the country.
To date, first class Municipality of the Province of Bukidnon- Honorable Mayor Gregorio Gue and First Lady Carmen Gue during the recently concluded 7th SUNGGOD TA KAMANGA FESTIVAL 2016 accepted and confirmed the invitation from Business Week Mindanao and Mindanao Daily News last February 22, 2016 to participate the 1st AMIHANG MINDANAO “LUMAD FESTIVAL HIMAMAT 2016”.
A whooping ONE MILLION NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS (Php 1,900,000.00) awaits the festival winners of the grandiose festival.
