Deadly coronavirus disease also victimizes 2 cops at Alagar

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A top-ranking official at Camp Alagar in this city has also confirmed that two of their officials tested positive of the deadly coronavirus disease.

Camp Alagar spokesperson Lt. Col Mardy Hortillosa told the media the two top officials, including a civilian, were now quarantined at an isolated area to prevent them from contaminating the virus.

Hortilloza said the two latest victims of the coronavirus disease (covid-19) were newly appointed PNP commissioned officers from outside of Northern Mindanao.

“Walay angay kabalak-an kay gi-isolate naman sila pag-abot nila diri sulod sa Camp Alagar for 14 days quarantine,” the PNP spokesperson told the media.

Hortillosa said after the police officers arrived at the PNP-10 headquarters for their new assignments, they were tested, and the result have confirmed them positive of the virus. The two PNP officers were now isolated at the City Isolation Unit in Cagayan de Oro.

The PNP-10 spokesman also told the media there were also three PNP personnel, including a civilian, who were taken samples, as they were in close contact with the covid-19 confirmed case police officials.

Meanwhile, Camp Alagar also underwent disinfection and City Hall personnel headed by Dr Joselito Retuya have already started contact tracing to identify all people who maybe in close contact with the two police officials including their immediate families. 

In a related news, Locally-stranded Individuals (LSIs) at the holding area in Cagayan de Oro have complained of uncomfortable situation, including the very lousy reception of government personnel assigned in the area.

The Southern Philippines State State College gymnasium has been converted into a holding area for LSI by the regional office of the Department of Health.

LSIs who have children complained they have to sleep at the floor and chairs because of the alleged poor accommodation made by government officials involved in the holding area.
