General Santos City –In its quest to provide quality service to the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and other stakeholders, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) – Sarangani pursues ISO 9001:2015 certification as it conducted a refresher course for the Internal Quality Auditors (IQAs) on October 28-30, 2020 at the DAR Provincial Office.
The course, entitled “Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems”, aims to provide additional skills to the selected DAR IQAs to make them competent in the conduct of objectively auditing the Quality Management System (QMS) of the DAR-Sarangani provincial office. The IQAs are selected employees of DAR Sarangani who were screened based on the criteria set by the Standard.
DAR Regional Adjudicator Atty. Henry M. Gelacio, an ISO Certified Auditor and Resource Person during the training said, “The training was able to enhance the skills of the IQAs to manage an audit program and do actual audit for DAR Sarangani provincial management systems. The IQAs will have to ensure that necessary corrective actions are undertaken once they detect non-conformances to the ISO standards.”
As the IQAs took their oath, ISO Champion and Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Cenon S. Original, emphasized that the primary role of the IQAs is to be the first line of defense in maintaining the QMS.
During the awareness activity conducted this November, Original explained that the organization with a QMS based on ISO 9001:2015 Standard always prioritizes the delivery of quality services aimed at satisfying its clients to the highest degree.
“The QMS will help the entire organization in the delivery of quality services. To attain quality, the established interactive systems and processes of the province, that comprises the QMS, are customer focused, designed to conform to the ISO Standards and compliant to all statutory, mandatory, and regulatory laws,” Original added.
Original said, that the journey to ISO accreditation has a narrow path as it requires the commitment and support of the Top Management, Division Chiefs, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officers, and dedicated employees. Aside from doing the regular responsibilities, DAR offices pursuing ISO certification will have to go extra mile to come up with a management system with an end in view of satisfying their clients and seeking continual improvement.
So far, only eleven DAR offices have been awarded with QMS ISO Certifications, namely, the DAR Central Office; the Regional Offices of Ilocos, CaLaBaRZon, Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas; and the provincial offices of Batangas, Pangasinan, Antique, North Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat .
“I salute the dedicated workforce of DARPO Sarangani for their determination to improve the delivery of quality services and outputs and embracing quality as their lifetime quest to the ARBs”, PARPO Original concluded.
