CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: More than P 35 million worth of illegal drugs were burned here in compliance with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2022, the regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Tuesday.
PDEA Regional Director Jigger B. Montallana, said that the dangerous drugs were thermally incinerated on July 28, 2022 at 1,000 degrees centigrade in a funeral homes here.
He said that apart from the seized illegal Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (Shabu), and other drugs included expired pharmaceutical products coming from both public and private hospitals and pharmacies in the region.
Montallana said that the destroyed illegal drugs consisted of 48,331.0044 grams of Marijuana (Fruiting Tops, Dried Leaves, and Plant), 4,399.5631 grams of Shabu and 0.7181 gram of MDMA (Ecstacy Tablet) valued at P35,718,569.61 million.
Under the drug act of 2022, the PDEA is required to destroy all seized illegal drugs within 24 hours after the trial courts had inspected the illegal drug paraphernalia submitted as evidence during the filing of cases. -0-
