Customs brokers association in R10 to inaugurate new office

THE association of Customs brokers in Region 10 will inaugurate their new office this morning (Saturday, June 5) at Phividec compound, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

During the same event, the new officers for FY 2021-2023 of the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. Northern Mindanao chapter will likewise take their oath. They are president Edgar Rey Gallana Jr., vice president for internal affairs Merlyn Venci, vice president for external affairs Amelita Cruz, secretary Shannon May Mabelin, assistant secretary Jinky Capin, treasurer Odessa Diamante-Castillo, treasurer Yolanda Narandan, auditor Junica Mae Venci, PIO Jo-ed Revilla, PIO Christine Joy Fiel and PIO Oliver Lisondra. Narandan, Capin and Merlyn Venci also serve as directors along with Dario Amolata and Joselito Alvarico. The guest of honor for the ribbon cutting and at the same time the inducting officer is Customs district collector John Simon. The Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. is an accredited professional organization (APO) by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for all practicing Licensed Customs Brokers from all over the country.

The CCBI-CDO Chapter is affiliated with the CCBI National Chapter whose members were all the practicing Licensed Customs Brokers in Region X whose practice of profession serves the ports of Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, Ozamis City, Mindanao International Container Port at Tagoloan, Nasipit Port at Butuan City and Surigao Port. Due to the strategic location of the mentioned ports, the creation of chapter professional organization where then determined based on the area of coverage.

CCBI Caraga Chapter was then crated w/c covers the ports of Nasipit in Butuan City and Surigao Port. While CCBI-CDO was renamed and recognized as new chapter by virtue of the CCBI National Chapter recognition dated July 20,2019. From CCBI-CDO to Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc, Northern Mindanao Chapter (CCBI-NorthMin) which basically composes of practicing Licensed Customs Brokers from Cagayan de Oro Port, Iligan Port, Ozamis and Mindanao International Container Port at Tagoloan, Misamis Orental. As concurrent chapter president for FY 2019-2021,

Gallana’s accomplishments are the following: implementation of Chapter Amelioration Due through CCBI resolution 001 Series of 2019-20 w/c is to help augment the financial capacity of the chapter to sustain its plans and projects; pproval of the Letter Request to Coll. John M. Simon , District Port Collector for the CCBI CDO to hold a temporary chapter office within the Bureau of Customs Premise; Various community charity projects as part of the CCBI’s social responsibility, consistent recipient is Association of Blind Masseurs of Cagayan de Oro City, extended monetary assistance and basic goods to the victims of Marawi Siege, victims of Taal Volcano Eruption, residents of Batangas and others; conducted the first ever Northern Mindanao Customs Brokers Summit participated by all practicing Licensed Customs Brokers all over the country last July 20, 2019; A signatory of the Memorandum of Understanding initiated by the Bureau of Customs among port stakeholders in relevance to Ease of Doing Business (R.A. 11032); take a lead in the construction of the first CCBI Northmin Chapter Office at Phividec Compound, Tagolaon,

Misamis Oriental; Creation of Customs Brokers Representative Association Northern Mindanao Chapter (CBRA-Northmin) this is the association of all Customs Brokers Rep. or called as “processors” or “ personero” the first chapter that organized and recognized its processors; strengthen the professional camaraderie of its chapter members through various Team Building Activity and professional development and enhancement through seminars & webinars sponsored by the chapter; and from seven members now CCBI Nortmin has 35 active chapter members.
