MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)—The 103rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army said the organization of a task force to synchronize and harmonize security forces’ operations to fight terrorism and criminality in Marawi is underway.
Brigade commander BGen. Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr. said higher authorities had given them the go signal for creating Task Force Marawi.
He said preliminary talks with the city government of Marawi have also already been made.
“Kasi habang nagrerehabilitate ang Marawi (because while Marawi is being rehabilitated), more people are entering the most affected area, and so is crime and lawlessness,” he said during the first quarter joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drugs Abuse Council, March 14.
Barroquillo emphasized that the creation of Task Force Marawi would address the security concerns in the city.
According to him, the task force will be modeled after Task Force Davao and Task Force Zamboanga. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
