Covid-19 in Oro: Solon helps families affected by locked down

CAGAYAN de Oro City–The office of second district Rep. Rufus Rodriguez dstributed food packs to dozens of families affected by locked down due to the upsurge of Covid-19 cases in the city.

Rodriguez and the  have distributed food packs, a report reaching the Mindanao Daily News online said.

Rodriguez, represented by City Councilor Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez and Barangay Nazareth Punong Barangay Maximo “Jonjon” Rodriguez III, with the office staff and volunteers, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed basic food packs to affected families in urban and rural barangays city-wide who were locked down for 14 days.

From August to October, some 3,071 families who were locked down received the food packs through their barangay chairmen, officials, and representatives from their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT).
 
The recipient barangays include

Second District:
Barangays 1,15,19,22,and 26, Agusan, Bugo, Camamanan, Cugman, Gusa, Indahag, Lapasan, Macabalan, Macasandig, Nazareth, Puerto, Puntod and Tablon

First District:
Balulang, Bayabas, Bonbon, Bulua, Carmen, Iponan, Kauswagan, Lumbia, Pagatpat and Patag.

Some persons with disabilities (PWDs) were also able to receive food packs from Rodriguez and DSWD.

Rodriguez vowed to continue helping residents of sitios in barangays affected by the lockdown imposed due to the rising cases of Covid-19 in the city.

Earlier, the lawmaker has requested DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista and DSWD Regional Director Flo Libang to give P6,000 to each of the 3,071 families that suffered the 14-day lockdown, the funds coming from the P6-billion given to DSWD by Bayabihan 2 law which was co authored by Rodriguez. They committed to give the cash assistance.

“Mag-ampo kita nga malikay atong mga igsuon sa Covid-19 sa maong mga lugar nga apektado sa lockdown ug giyahan unta sa labaw nga makagagahum ang katawhan sa tibuok dakbayan sa Cagayan de Oro,” said Rodriguez in a press statement.
