ILIGAN CITY —– Police arrested on Monday afternoon (May 11) an alleged drug peddler in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Regional Special Operation Unit (RSOU) 10, Regional Intelligence Division and Iligan City Police Station (ICPS) 1 at Purok 9A in Barangay Luinab, here.
PLt.Col. Mardy Hortillosa, information officer of Police Regional Office – 10, identified the suspect as Jason Ybaṅz, 31, a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Saray.
Ybaṅez was caught transacting with a police asset in Luinab, some five kilometers away from his house, despite the implementation of modified community quarantine in Iligan City that allows only one member of the family to go out, bringing his home quarantine pass (QP).
The police asset was able to buy P1,500 pesos worth of meth and confiscated another pack of substance believed to be shabu weighing 50 grams with an estimated market value of P340,000 when he was arrested.
Hortillosa said Ybaṅez is listed in Iligan City as high-valued individual (HVI).
Major Rixell Torayno, chief of ICPS 1, said the suspect was arrested in Cagayan de Oro City in 2016 for a drug case but was able to avail of a plea bargaining agreement.
Torayno said his office is now preparing to file a case of violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) against Ybaṅez who is temporarily detained at ICPS 1.
