ISABELA CITY, Basilan – Police investigators are now conducting investigation into the killing of a village official in this city, authorities reported Monday.
The victim was identified by police authorities as one Jamirun Amigos, a barangay official at Marang, Sumisip Town in Basilan province. While the suspect is still unidentified at press time.
Lieutenant Colonel Junpikar Sitin, police chief of Isabela City, said the victim was walking in front of a food chain when the incident happened.
“At around 2:00pm last Monday, the victim Jamiron Amigos, the victim was walking near a food chain when an unknown assailant alighted from the crime scene and without provocation shot him which also caused the victim’s untimely demise, the police official said.
Sitin said after seeing the victim bathed in blood the suspect immediately fled from the crime scene to elude arrest from responding lawmen.
Sitin theorized the incident could have been pointed to a family rido which usually happened in the province.
Rido is local term for a “family feud” which usually ended in killing between members of the family. Many of the residents, report said, were keeping illegal guns and ammos which they would also used in ‘rido’ situations. – PNA
