CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A top police official in Northern Mindanao has warned of the dismissal of more ‘scalawags in uniform’ during his term of office.
PNP-10 regional director Brig General Lawrence Coop told a local radio station that four more non-commission policemen are under dismissal deliberation proceedings due various police violations.
Coop said this includes a police officer caught during the joint PDEA-PNP-10 operations. The suspect police officer was reportedly selling illegal drugs when caught by the raiding team in Gingoog City.
Meanwhile, the police general also reported that all third-level officers, including him, who have submitted their courtesy resignations, are now placed under intelligence monitoring.
The purpose of which, the general said, is to see if all third level police officers in Northern Mindanao have done something wrong such as involvement of some PNP officer into the illegal drug trade in the country, as well as other policy violations which tainted the PNP organization as a whole.
Added to this, Coop said, two police generals and 17 police colonels in the region are now being investigated by the 5-man panel regarding their alleged involvement into the illegal drug trade in Northern Mindanao. ###
