CMFC firing range opens in Oro

CAGAYAN de Oro City–A police official in the city yesterday launched the opening of a firing range at Camp Pedro “Oloy” N. Roa Sr. in Barangay Carmen with a two-day shooting competition starting Ocotber 6.

Lt. Col. Alexy Embernate Sonido, force commander of the City mobile Force Company (CMFC), said that he developed the firing range to help improve a policeman’s marksmanship.

Sonido said members of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) can use the firing rnge free of charge.

However, he said each user of the riging range is required to strictly observe the health protocols as mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

“We require the wearing of facemask, and face shield before we allow anyone to use our facility,” said Sonido.

Col. Alan Molintas Nazarro of the Police Community Relation of the Provincial Police Office in Region 10 (PRO-10) said: “This is timely for call of our chief PNP (Philippine National Police (PNP) that is one of the 9-point agenda for at least every policeman to be a marksman.”

Nazarro, who is one of the guest speakers during the opening ceremony of the CMFC firing range, said: “the facility was established to help improve the shooting skills of our policemen.”

It ws learned that the land hwere the CMFC firing range was established was donated by the grandfather of Cagayan de City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual.

Aside from Pascual, Barangay Nazareth Punong Barangay Jonjon Rodriguez and Rustico Ian Achas of Barangay Puerto graced the opening of the CMFC firing range.

Other guests include Col. Henry Dampal, city director of Cocpo, and retired Brig. Gen. Roger Diaz.
