SIARGAO ISLAND – One of the pretty lasses in Siargao Island, the surfing capital of the Philippines, is going to compete in the prestigious beauty tilt in the country – the Miss Universe Philippines.
Michele Angela Okol, 20, hails from Dapa in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, and she is currently a student at De La Salle Manila taking up Political Science.
Ms Angela is the first MUPH aspiring candidate coming from Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte.
Just recently, the Time Magazine, has recognozed Siargao as among the the 100 World’s Greatest Places to Explore in 2021 amid the threats of worldwide pandemic.
“She is a consistent first honor and Dean’s lister, taking this big step to tell her story and be an empowering force to advocate self-acceptance, love and, like her, encourage more people to turn their life around for the better, one of the candidate’s camp officials for Miss Universe Philippines said Saturday.
In an interview, the young lass said sustainable fashion would be her humble contribution. Ms Angela is fun of reusing old fabric to new clothing designs.
“A lot of times, what’s being mass produced isn’t completely sold, ergo, these unsold materials just end up being stocked or thrown away,” Okol said in the statement.
MUPH TIGHT SCREENING
It was also learned that the Miss Universe (MUPH) is currently screening possible candidates who shall compose the final candidates for the second holding of the prestogious beauty tilt in the country, in which Ms Okol was among the very promosing beauties to choose from.
From 100 aspiring beauties, the number would be narrowed down to Top 75, then the TOP 50 who shall fly to Metro Manila for the final face-to-face interviews.
Out of the remaining 5o candidates, the final 30 will be announced on August 31 and they will vie for the coronation night on September 25.
