Cagayan de Oro Mayor Moreno orders mandatory wearing of face masks

CAGAYAN DE ORO City Mayor Oscar Moreno yesterday ordered the mandatory wearing of face masks in public places to continue fighting against the deadly threats of covid-19.

This, as the City Health Office has also announced eight residents of the city reportedly attended a cock derby in Davao last March 12, and are now being traced and monitored by City Health Officials.

During a press conference, the City Mayor announced signing an ordinance requiring all city residents to wear face masks. The City Government is also scheduled to distribute 200,000 locally-made face masks to Kagay-anons.

“I’m sure most of the residents already have their face masks, so what we will be distributing will only serve as an augmentation,” Moreno explained.

He clarified that the face masks that will be distributed are for civilians use only as frontliners in local hospitals have their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

“We prohibit anyone from being in a public place without wearing a face mask,” Moreno warned.

The city mayor warned city residents to strictly follow this city ordinance since those violating will be dealt with accordingly.

“We should not be complacent in dealing with the virus. We need to continue our defenses. Please stay at home, wash your hands regularly, and pray that we can all get over with COVID-19 soon.”
