Cagayan de Oro City NMMC Chief denies resignation yarn

CAGAYAN de Oro City–Dr. Jose Chan, medical director, of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) here on Monday said he has filed a leave until end of July to belie reports that he resigned as NMMC hospital chief.

An editor of a local newspaper wrote that Chan leaved the NMMC Friday after having an altercation with fellow doctors because of the non-payment of the “hazard allwances” of the hospital personnel.

In a prepared statement released Monday morning, Chan said that his leave of absence took effect July 20, 2020 until July 31, 2020 and has designated an officer-in-charge in his absence.

Chan issued the clarification amid reports that he left the NMMC and pack up things Friday after an alleged altercation with hospital doctors on the non-released of the “hazard allowance” of health personnel.

Chan denied the report, ran by a local newspaper in an online report Saturday, saying he filed an official leave along with an application for an early retirement.

According to Chan, the NMMC is waiting for the Department of Health (DOH) to release the “hazard allowances” of the health personnel, especially the “job order” workers.
He said that he filed his leave with the DOH Secretary Francisco Duque while designating Dr. Ramon Moreno as OIC of the NMMC in his absence.

The NMMC is the only referral government hospital for COVID-19 patients in Northern Mindanao.
