ILIGAN CITY —– A 19-year old male in Sitio Fuentes, Barangay Maria Cristina is now considered person under investigation after his seven-year old brother was tested positive of COVID-19 in Dumalinao town, Zamboanga del Sur.
Iligan City Health Officer Dr. Cherlina Cañaveral said the older brother was traced by the Inte-Agency Task Force (IATF) COVID Iligan after Zamboanga del Sur Task Force COVID reported that the younger sibling and his family visited them in Fuentes on March 14-15.
IATF Iligan is only putting him in a home quarantine because he has mild symptoms.
“He will be automatically considered PUI because of his direct exposure to his brother,” Cañaveral said.
Jimuel Panang, barangay chairman of Paglaum, Dumalinao where the family of the 7 years old live, said the his family attended a birthday gathering and a funeral in Iligan but did not specify the dates and the exact location of the two events.
In a press conference on Wednesday, TF ZamboSur announced that the 7-year manifested mild symptoms on March 19, four days after his family came home in Dumalinao from Iligan.
He is listed as patient 13 by the TF ZamboSur COVID.
On March 20, the symptoms worsen, and he was admitted to Pagadian City Private Hospital for asthma but treated in an isolation area.
Patient 13 is a known asthmatic.
He was swabbed on March 23.
The result was received by the hospital on April 01.
TF ZamboSur said the boy is recovering.
