CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Oct. 17 (PIA)–To combat the adverse effects of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay 14, here, leads the disinfection of the area as well as the conduct of various information, Education and Communications (IEC) campaigns.
“Isip SK, nagmugna kami ug usa ka program nga gisulod namo sa among barangay naa’y online nga broadcast. Didto namo gipagawas ang mga information nga kinahanglan sa katawhan. Nag-apud-apod pud ug papel sa proper hand washing ug anti-COVID procedures,” Barangay 14 SK Chair Clark Collin Tejada said during the CORDS-X Podcast with Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, October 17.
(As SK, we initiated a program, which we introduced to the barangay, that involves online broadcasting. We share the information needed by the residents through the platform. We also distributed flyers with information on proper hand washing and anti-COVID procedures)
Even before the barangay has recorded confirmed COVID-19 cases, Tejada said they have been conducting regular disinfection in the area.
He added they intensified the disinfection in the barangay when they knew about the positive cases to ensure that even before and after isolation of the said patients, their constituents will not get infected of the virus.
Furthermore, Tejeda said the punong barangay is also supportive of the SK activities such as the Gulayan sa Barangay in partnership with several NGOs.
As for the lesson learned during the pandemic, the SK chair said the pandemic should teach people to become givers instead of being hoarders so in times of difficulties, everyone could rely on helping hands. (RTP/PIA10)
