Boxer Albert Pagara tries to commit suicide inside his prison cell

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Disturbed by the sudden twist of his life, Boxer Albert “Prince” Pagara, a professional boxer formerly based in this city, tried to commit suicide inside the prison cell, a report reaching MDNN said yesterday.

In an interview with some members of the local media in Cebu City, Pagara’s inmate revealed the boxer tried to take his life by using a shoelace and tied it hard around his neck several times, but the cellmates have stopped his stubborn plan.

According to the inmates, the 27-year-old boxer was so frustrated with the sudden change in his career. He was also worried his upcoming fight won’t push through because of this ‘sexual abuse’ accusation hurled against him by the mother of a 14-year-old minor.

Pagara also told the media he felt ashamed of his life being challenged by this alleged ‘rape accusation,’ adding his boxing career could be over now.

Meanwhile, the Pardo Police Station chief said they are preparing for the filing of “rape charges” against Pagara, based on the accusation of the alleged victim’s mother.

But Pagara, however, denied the sexual abuse accusations, saying he just touch the girl’s private parts and then left the place.

Initial investigation by police probers showed the minor was sleeping when the boxer allegedly came into the house and molested her.

She also narrated to her mother she was awakened by something that’s disturbing her sleep and she reportedly saw Pagara allegedly doing something wrong in her private parts. Though she was already awake, she narrated, But she pretended to still sleep as she was afraid the boxer might do something bad if she calls for help.

The accusations of the minor reportedly happened around 4pm in their house in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City on September 1.

Three hours later after the mother reported the incident to the village guards (barangay tanods), the boxer was arrested and brought to the Pardo Police Station for temporary detention due to the gravity of the sexual abuse complaint lodged against the boxer.
