Bounty for info on Tawee’s killer raised to P4-Million

BY JOEL CALAMBA ESCOL, Managing Editor

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The reward money for any individual who can provide information, which will eventually lead to the arrest of the gunman and his cohort in the killing of Barangay Councilor Sherwin “Tawee” Uy and caretaker Samual Pabalan, is now raised to P4-Million.

This, after the Uy’s family friends, business associates and political supporters have chipped in money to increase the bounty for the speedy resolution of the murder.

On November 11, this year, a motorcycle riding-in-tandem suspects went to the quarry site of the Uy’s in the outskirts between Barangays Pagatpat San Simon and shot dead Tawee and his caretaker.

One of the suspects acted as lookout while the gunman immediately went to Kagawad Tawee who was resting at a swivel chair and without provocation shot him six times which caused his untimely demise. The gunman also killed his caretaker and immediately fled from the crime scene.

BOUNTY

MAYOR Oscar Moreno announced the other day a Two Million (P2-M) bounty for anyone who can provide information on the identity of the assassin who shot dead Barangay Councilor Roland Sherwin “Tawee” Uy, 45, and his quarry business’ caretaker, Samuel Pabalan, 67.

In a statement, Mayor Moreno said the brutal, cruel, barbaric and senseless killings on November 11 of Kagawad Uy and his caretaker must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

“I ask the peace-loving Cagayanons to join me in urging the speedy and complete solutions of those killings, ” the City Mayor said.

He said when he heard about the killings he immediately proceeded to the site of the crime to get an idea how it happened and he observed there was no security guard in the premises.

He said that Kagawad Tawee Uy was absolutely unaware and even unsuspecting of the cruelty that would happen to him in that fateful daylight attack of the suspects.

“The perpetrator, together with the brains, must be held to account for these dastardly acts,” Mayor Moreno warned, adding that the City Government of Cagayan de Oro is willing to shell out a Two Million bounty to anyone who can provide information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.

INVESTIGATION

In a local radio station interview, Major Ivan Viñas said investigation is now ongoing and they are considering many angles which pinpoint the main motives of killing the eldest son of Rep Rolanda Uy.

Viñas said the Cagayan de Oro City Police Organization (COCPO) is now conducting a massive and no-nonsense probe on the shooting incident.

He said based on their investigation, there were two suspicious looking persons who were seen by witnesses in the area prior to the shooting of Kag Tawee Uy and his caretaker.

The police official said a taskforce investigating the incident is now being created with the help of CIDG and other police units.

Meanwhile, it was also learned that the National Bureau of Investigation is also conducting its separate investigation.
