CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A Bongo truck driver was set free and cleared from charges after an amicable settlement with the family of the teacher who died in the said collision last week in this city.
Cleared from possible charges was Jimmy Boy Bayanton, a resident of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon and the driver of the Bongo truck.
According to Master Sgt Ryan Sevilleno, traffic investigator at Puerto Police Station the family of the victim, Julius Bayudan has agreed to an amicable settlement. It was not clear, however, what kind of amicable settlement the two parties have agreed which stopped the possible filing of criminal charges against the suspect.
The traffic investigator said he had already received a copy of a document which stated that the two parties have already reached an amicable settlement.
Police investigation disclosed that on January 6, 2023, a Bongo truck driven by Bayanton collided with a Toyota Wigo at Sayre Highway in Barangay Puerto, this city.
The Wigo driver, Julius Bayudan, died on the collision while his wife, Sherlyn Bayudan, was injured along with another teacher, Cherry Mae Rami. – all residents of Cagayan de Oro.Â
