BOC-Davao, PCG Conduct Maritime Patrol for “OPLAN BIYAHENG AYOS”

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Davao Water Patrol Division (WPD) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station of Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) jointly conducted a maritime patrol covering the area of Pakiputan Strait of Davao del Norte last October 30-31, 2022.

The initiative aimed to reinforce the area’s security and hinder illicit activities, especially during the “undas” season. The said activity was in line with the “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2022”, which guaranteed maritime transport reliability and safe sea travel measures for the public. It also reinforced existing sailing restrictions for small boats due to the disaster warnings brought by typhoon Paeng.

Customs Davao District Collector and PCG Auxiliary Lt. Commander Atty. Erastus Sandino Austria led the augmentation of the fast patrol boats in coordination with Coast Guard Ensign Vasit Venturillo.

The PCG Auxilliary 802nd Squadron, Coast Guard Sub-Station – Babak, Coast Guard Special Operations Group – IGACOS, and the Coast Guard Sea Marshall Unit also participated during the patrol.

The BOC Davao will continue to collaborate with partner agencies to focus on enhancing border security in the Davao Region under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the guidance of Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz to strengthen the agency’s core mandate.
