BARMM ensures farmers get sufficient supply of Halal native chickens

COTABATO CITY—To ensure that Bangsamoro farmers get a sufficient egg supply of native chickens, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) distributed another batch of Halal native chicken on Thursday, Jan. 26, at Barangay Kalanganan II in this City.

Through the Ministry’s Halal Program, a total of 640 heads of free-range native chicken, funded under the Government Appropriation Act for Bangsamoro (GAAB), have been distributed to 20 individual farmers and four associations in this city.

Disumimba Rasheed, Assistant to the Provincial Director for Special Geographic Area (SGA) and Cotabato City, emphasized that the distribution aimed to help beneficiaries to have additional income and at least increase their profit through chicken production.

“One of our mandates in the Ministry is to bring the intervention closer to our beneficiaries and through this distribution, our region will have a sufficient supply of eggs,” Rasheed said.

Meanwhile, Maguindanao Provincial Director Dr. Ronjamin Maulana said, “we are doing these activities, which will help you increase your income; we are hoping that with this intervention, you will feel that the Bangsamoro Government has been there to give you support.”

He also thanked the partner beneficiaries for their support and underscored that everyone has a responsibility and accountability for the project.

The Ministry will provide similar assistance to another twelve (12) barangays in the city. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO with reports from MAFAR)
