BARMM Region – Travel time from Marawi City to Cagayan de Oro will be fast with the construction of a bridge funded by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), reports reaching MDNN said.
Eduard Guerra, BARMM public works minister told reporters the bridge that will be funded by the BARMM funds will be linked not only in Cagayan de Oro but also Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon Provinces.
For Cagayan de Oro alone, the travel time could be much shorter with only a two-hour travel time, according to the minister.
Guerra said the Bayug Bridge, being constructed in Barangay Bagoingud, Upper Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur, will help transportation very fast and efficient.
“The bridge is also connected with the Kapai-Tagoloan Road in the border pf Lanao del Sur and Misamis Oriental, respectively, which is also termed ‘Dream Road 2’,” the BARMM said.
It was learned that the project was started in 2018 under the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). It has a Php 25-million budget allocation.
He said “The BARMM earmarked another PHP25-million for the second phase of the bridge construction under the 2021 appropriations.”
Guerra also clarified the budget forms part of the P3.7 billion infrastructure funds of the 39 municipalities, including Marawi City.
Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. said the bridge will help ease the travel from Lanao del Sur to Cagayan de Oro City via Talakag, Bukidnon. – PNA
