DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao – The government is serious in minimizing and eradicating drugs in the country as it intensified its campaigns against drug operations.
On May 20 this morning, police operatives arrested a barangay official and five others during one of its anti-drug operations.
Juvenal Azurin, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) identified those arrested as
Norman Abdullah, Rustom Mama, Ronnie Mama, Tato Lalaog, Joharie Cusain, and Alimudin Sucor, all residents of Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat town, this province.
Of the five drug suspects, according to reports, Ronie Mama is a barangay Councilor of Barangay Semba.
Dir Azurin said a PDEA undercover agent acted as buyer during the buy-bust operation in sitio Laguialam in the same barangay. The operation intercepted 10 grams of the suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P80,000 from one of the suspects.
The PDEA director also told reporters that a caliber .45 pistol was also seized from the suspects.
The operation was jointly participated by the PDEA regional office as well as the local police force of Datu Odin Sinsuat, it was learned.
The PDEA director said “Their neighbors have alerted us of their illegal activities.”
The suspects are now languishing at the PDEA mini cell awaiting charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 as amended. – PNA
