Bangon Marawi unveils newly-restored ‘muslim church’

MARAWI CITY – A newly-restored ‘muslim church’ in this city is now ready for the faithfuls of Allah following its inauguration this week spearheaded by Task Force Bangon Marawi.

The ‘muslim church’ known as Masjid Disomangcop was inside the most affected area (MAA) during the skirmishes between government troopers and ISIS-lead terror group headed by the Maute brothers.

The Masjid Disomangcop mosque became the hideout of ISIS snipers in which the government find it very difficult to overran being a sacred place of worship. However, the government needs to take over the mosque to have full control against the strongholds of the terrorists who take shelter in mosques, knowing that the military would not be able to infiltrate their hideouts due to religious freedom privileges.

TFBM chairperson and Cabinet Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario said “”This is a great milestone for TFBM to be of help and for the first mosque to be inaugurated today.”

Rosario said the fasttract rehabilitation of muslim churches in most affected areas (MAAs) are among the priorities of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Menwhile, there are also other mosques under repair and full restoration in other areas in the MAA rehabiliation project for “muslim churches.”

These churces or mosques include White Mosque, Masjid Darussalam, Marinaut Masjid, Masjid Macaorao and Grand Mosque and reconstruction of Dansalan Bato Mosque.

In 2017 during the height of the skirmishes between government forces led by 4th Scout Ranger Battalion and Taskforce Panther, the military seized this ISIS-lead terror group’s stronghold and sniper position.
