MISAMIS Oriental second district Rep. Yevgeny Vincente Emano and Tagoloan Mayor Nadya Elipe welcome the interest of Mactan Rock to expand its water service west of Tagoloan river.
At the same time, Emano reported that plans are already underway to forge an agreement between the local government units of Tagoloan and Jasaan for the latter to connect its water system servicing the eastern and upper portions of Tagoloan.
Also present during the consultation Tuesday morning, July 11 were representatives of condominium developer RGJ Realty Corporation who have expressed interest to put up a huge storage tank in barangay Sta. Ana to accommodate and service the waters trickling from Jasaan for the upland barangay of the municipality.
Established in Cebu in 1983, Mactan Rock is one of the pioneers of bulk water supply to water districts. It has served Tagoloan since Emano was still mayor sometime between 1998 and 2007 but it has not really forged an agreement with the local government unit.
With this interest in expanding Mactan Rock’s transmission and distribution pipelines, Elipe assured the company led by chief executive officer Lito Maderazo of full support in hastening bureaucratic legal requirements needed by the company to operate there. Vice Mayor Robinson Sabio and most of the town’s councilors were present in the consultation held at Tagoloan Dome together with Maderazo and a lawyer liaising between the company and the local government unit.
With this expansion that will expect to effect by the end of this year, it will benefit a total of 55,113 households in the barangays of Poblacion, Baluarte, Casinglot, Natumolan, Gracia and Sugbongcogon.
Mactan Rock’s supply has also passed the Philippine national standard for drinking water.
Maderazo assured Emano and Elipe that they will use existing road networks in their expansion and they will not trespass on any private property.
The expansion will also accommodate the installation of fire hydrants for every 150 meters where the main distribution pipes are traversing.
Barangay chairmen and representatives of various sectors who were present in the consultation all expressed support for the water expansion and thanked Emano and Elipe for helping Mactan Rock expedite its intentions.
