MAGUINDANAO – A barangay official was shot dead by still unidentified attackers after attending the wedding of his son Tuesday, reports reaching MDNN said yesterday.
The victim was identified by police investigators as Badawi Kusain, 45, and the current chairperson of Barangay Ambadao, Shriff Aguak, this province. The handgun used by the suspect has yet to be identified by the police, the report said.
Based on the initial investigation, the victim was on his way home after attending the wedding of his son. The reception was held at a restaurant in Barangay Poblacion. After the traditional wedding ceremonies, the village official, together with his Nephew Rasul Sindi, was heading home when the suspects alighted near the town’s rotunda at around 1:30pm Tuesday (July27), and without provocation, shot the victim many times to the different parts of his body which caused his untimely demise.
Major Radzak Musa, the local police chief told reporters that Kusain succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Fortunately, his nephew has escaped unharmed.
The police chief said they are waiting for the lapse of a seven-day family mourning to resume their investigation and identify the killers as soon as possible.
Police investigators have initially pointed to a clan war as the motive of the killing.
