ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–The 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade inaugurated its newly-repaired, renovated function hall and conference hall, dubbed the “Maria Wing” building, February 22.
Armor Pambato Division Commander Major General Facundo Palafox IV, 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade Commander Brigadier General Rey Alemania, and Magbalantay Deputy Brigade Commander Colonel Charlemagne Batayola, Jr., led the said inauguration.
The building houses the conference room at the same time as the function hall of the Brigade. It used to be a triad building and was renovated through the initiative of former Iligan City Representative and current Mayor Frederick Siao, which cost P2.7 million. The building has a 280-square-meter floor area. It has its own cafe where guests and soldiers can enjoy coffee inside the camp. The brigade then funded all the amenities.
“I believe the brigade is improving their maintenance facility so that when we transfer the new equipment here, they will be able to house the equipment that is coming in. So we improve the maintenance of the facility, and they will be coming up with new barracks buildings to house enlisted officers who will be assigned here to man the equipment,” said Palafox in an interview.
Furthermore, Palafox assured the people of Iligan and Lanao del Norte that the Armor Division is committed to supporting the peace and security efforts of LGU in the province in order to attain a just and lasting peace. (CEC/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
