ILIGAN CITY — An Army official died on Saturday, February 5, after he drowned while scuba diving om Saturday, February 5, in Initao, Misamis Oriental.
Police report stated that 54-year old Col. Nolie Anquillano, the deputy brigade commander of the Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade in Marawi City, participated in a scuba diving at 9:40 in the morning when he went missing at 10:20.
Search and rescue operation was conducted by dive masters, around 1:15 pm when Anquillano’s body was retrieved and was immediately brought to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician.
Anquillano, who hails from Luzon, is a product of Officer Candidate School (OCS) batch 1991.
On Sunday evening his body was brought at the 1st Infantry Division headquarters in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur where a necrological mass was held. A military honors was given to him on Monday afternoon and is set to be brought to his hometown in Luzon.
The Philippine flag inside the headquarters of the 103rd is now put on a halfmast to mourn the death of Anquillano. [END]
